Über uns
Women’s Agri-Enviro Vision (WAEV), founded in 2019, is a non-profit organization in the Arusha region of Tanzania that works with women in rural Maasai communities.
We empower women through economic opportunities, community health initiatives, and environmental conservation.
Our vision
A poverty free community where every woman can thrive, and environmental resources are protected.
Our mission
To improve the economic, social, and environmental health of marginalized communities by facilitating sustainable programs that engage women in agricultural and entrepreneurial ventures.
Our strategy
We provide women with tools, resources, and knowledge to lead healthy lives. Our programs are autonomously directed by assemblies of women to foster collaboration, community resilience, and sustainable development.
Our objectives:
• Advance women’s social and economic status
• Revitalize natural resources and ecosystems
• Increase educational opportunities to foster sustainable and equitable development
• Improve nutrition, food security, and societal health
• Increase individual and communal environmental, economic, and social resilience
Our Programs
• Tree Planting: Trees produce firewood for cooking, timber for construction, and fruit to feed communities. These trees reduce soil erosion and restore natural ecosystems.
• Microfinance & Entrepreneurship: By providing microloans and business training, WAEV enables women to obtain greater social and economic autonomy in their communities.
• Sustainable Gardening: Women learn to cultivate gardens using principles in regenerative agriculture. The vegetables grown bolster nutritional status and increase food security.
• Water & Sanitation: Polyethylene water tanks increase water security and improve health while relieving the responsibility women bear to collect clean water from reservoirs hours away from their homes.
Saing'orie Sangau is the Executive Director of Women’s Agri-Enviro Vision (WAEV).
