Über uns

Education Beyond Borders Society (EBB) is a non-profit, non-denominational NGO committed to closing the global education gap. We believe that empowering teacher leaders is crucial for ensuring quality education for everyone. Our organization mainly works with primary and secondary school teachers in under-resourced regions to enhance their capacity and foster self-reliance.

Education Beyond Borders responds to requests for partnerships to enhance teacher and community education. We collaborate on providing professional development programs for teachers, and training volunteers as local facilitators, able to design and deliver workshops for their colleagues and thus sustain in-service professional development initiatives in their area. It is through strategic partnerships that we can leverage the skills and expertise of the various stakeholders, making efficient use of resources for optimal outcomes.

We believe that professional development opportunities lead to
● better teaching practices being implemented in the classroom, and, therefore,
● improved learning and well-being for students, both in the classroom and beyond.
As we collaborate with colleagues across cultures and school systems, we learn from each other, enhancing our own skills in the classroom, and our reflection as teachers.
Starting in 2006, Education Beyond Borders teams from Canada have worked with colleagues in Sub-Saharan Africa build their capacity to
● Design and deliver in-country programs focused on learner-centred methodologies and competency-based approaches (project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, collaborative learning, differentiated instruction, SEL, etc.), in line with the local curricula. Our workshops:
○ feature practical classroom strategies and activities.
○ discuss adaptation to local context and culture.
○ encourage implementation in the classroom.
○ train teacher volunteers as local facilitators and leaders.
● Give ongoing support by responding to requests from local teachers and facilitators for specific professional development topics and resources.
● Collaborate on remote learning modules.
