Über uns
Caring Home Mityana (CHM) a registered Community Based Organization in Mityana District in Uganda under Registration No. BUS/DIV/79/2019 that gave us mandate to operate in Mityana District with experience of now 3 years since 2018 in the field of community development. The organization was formed by concerned community volunteers upon realizing the community needs that existed in Mityana district at a time. CHM’s head office is in Kibibi Garage – East ward, Busimbi Division, Mityana municipality- Mityana district.
The CHM vision is empowering community to fulfill its obligation for growth and development.
Mission: To build the capacity of OVC, women, elderly, PWDs, adolescents and youths to identify analyze and generate practical solutions to eliminate discrimination and poverty through the reflection action processes by 2040.
Our programs:
• Carrying out community health through sexual reproductive health, malaria, HIV/AIDS and other STDs prevention, care and treatment
• Sustainable development projects
• Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
• Internship opportunities
• Undertaking research, monitoring and evaluation
• Promoting education at all levels through providing scholarships, scholastic materials and vocational training skills.
• Human rights promotion
• Supporting environment protection, community agriculture, elderly, entrepreneurial and youth groups in all their endeavours to improve quality of life.
What we do
• CHM runs education campaigns about HIV prevention, care and treatment, whilst also addressing the medical and psychological needs of people living with the virus.
• CHM also works to improve the living conditions of poor communities by constructing village infrastructure, including sanitation facilities, providing agricultural inputs and food & nutrition supplements, clean cooking stoves and kitchen gardens.
• Finally, CHM aims to promote the capacity of communities to effectively manage their own well-being. This includes designing income-generation projects for vulnerable groups and facilitating access to quality education for disadvantaged children through OVC sponsorships, Provision of sanitary pads to adolescent girls and scholastic materials.
• Most recently, CHM opened its first vocational school, CHM'S Vocational Training Centre, on October 6th2021.
Jjagwe Bashir is the Executive Director of Caring Home Mityana (CHM).
