Über uns
SsengandaCare Family Foundation (SCAFF) is a charity organization based in Kyotera District Uganda. SCAFF was founded in 2019 as a community-based organization. As Ssenganda family we realized that there was a need to help women and girl child in the communities we were living due to mistreatment and gender inequality by men.
In 2019 we started a sensitization project called "A girl child can" which was so loved and gave the girls hope in that they were not recognized for the right to go to school, getting married at a young age by their fathers for dowry. We have also found that girls reach Primary Four when they have already reached their adolescent stage where most of the girls start dropping out of school. We managed to reach schools and give counseling and guidance to girls about menstruation periods and hygiene but most of them don't have access to sanitary pads due to poor financial statuses at their homes.
SCAFF is aiming at transforming lives of the less privileged people like orphans, disabled, mostly girl child and widows. We have managed to create woman empowerment groups in the community so that they can learn to save money and start their own small-scale enterprises. And for school dropout girls we have tried to put some in hands-on skilling centers like tailoring for them to get skills and also start training others as they earn a living.
In the community, SCAFF found that schools are very far from one village to another village where the school is located. We got several reports that girls were being raped on their way to school since they were leaving their homes at 5am to reach school in time yet it was still dark. According to our financial capacity, SCAFF managed to put a school temporary buildings near to overcome the problem of early school dropout by girls, though it has few classes and getting damaged by weather and termites since made by trees and timber.
The community is fetching water from shallow wells. We found it that people share water with cattle which may cause the spread of diseases caused by drinking contaminated water by animals. SCAFF managed to do a very complicated task of sensitizing primitive people about sharing water with cattle since they did that for so long.
As it is well known that Kyotera District Uganda is the place that HIV-AIDS started, we found several women infected with HIV-AIDS are abandoned by their partners (husbands) due their life statuses not knowing that even the husbands were also infected ending up spreading HIV-AIDS. People were strongly believing that HIV-AIDS was witchcraft and ending up dying in numbers. SCAFF organized a team reaching out all abandoned women and girls giving them counseling and guidance on how to live a life of medicine daily and giving them hope.
For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
