Über uns
Founded in 2013, Lespwa Lavi, a 501c-3 nonprofit serving the community, means “Hope for Life” in Haitian Creole. What began as a youth soccer academy in the rural Artibonite region of Haiti has grown into a mission to empower the community of Verrettes and create a sustainable, impactful ministry with four main goals:
1. To equip and prepare students to transform their community and the world for the glory of Jesus Christ
2. To provide an environment for all soccer players to achieve their potential
3. Meet basic community needs in the poorest region of Haiti
4. Unite the communities of Verrettes and Bismarck, ND and other communities in the United States
Our mission is to provide a sustainable future for Haitians through education and empowerment.
What we do
• Lespwa Lavi Academy - Education to liberate: The Academy will provide a bilingual Christian education that meets rigorous standards, enabling students to take the ACT or SAT exam and qualify for international scholarships. The Academy enables every child to have the opportunity for an excellent education through child sponsorships.
• Magic Soccer Academy - Solving poverty through Soccer: Soccer provides lifetime benefits of discipline and training. For the past six years, Magic Soccer Academy Verrettes (MSAV) has been offering elite level training to the youth of Verrettes and the surrounding area. Twelve teams play in the regional league, and the Academy has been recognized by FIFA, which sponsors one of our teams. MSAV started the first girls’ team in the region and through community education, encouraged other towns to do the same. Now there is a regular female soccer league that has achieved national recognition!
• Lespwa Lavi Church - Giving hope each day: The Lespwa Lavi church provides a fresh meal every Sunday for their congregation, many of whom eat only once a day. They have baptized over 70 people in the nearby river and continue to grow. The leaders provide support and mentorship for the soccer academy coaches who are leading Bible studies every week. The church has spiritually paved the way for many miracles to happen as Lespwa Lavi began, and they are an integral part of bringing hope to Verrettes.
• Lespwa Lavi Clinics - Healing with care: In 2018, Lespwa Lavi was given use of the clinic building and conducted the first mobile clinic in February, 2019. We started a health monitoring initiative for the Academy students and their families to further identify the most urgent needs. Lespwa Lavi is currently interviewing staff to set up a permanent clinic in Marin, and will continue operating mobile clinics supplemented by North American staff.
• Feeding Program – Nutrition: In the fall of 2019, Lespwa Lavi partnered with the HaitiOne program through Convoy of Hope to provide 100% daily nutrition for the children in Verrettes.
