Muzalombe Youth Multi Purpose Co-operative Society Limited was registered as a co-operative society in april 2021.
Challenge
The people of Petauke community live in a vicious cycle of poverty. Majority of them live on less than a dollar a day, this translates to living below the poverty line according to the United Nations and the world community standards. Many school drop outs, orphans and vulnerable children do not have access to equipped facilities for training in valuable trade skills. There is a high demand for the provision of practical and tertiary training services that enable them to be gainfully employed.
Solution
The vocational skills training center offers informal education. The informal education will entail training in dressmaking/tailoring and entrepreneurial skills, carpentry and joinery, welding and fabrication, computer, masonry and welding,
Project:
Youth skills training center: The project contributes to youth and children development in skills for self-reliance and entrepreneurship. It creates employment opportunities for disadvantaged youth and young adults helping them to move from poverty and unemployment to self-sufficiency. This effective intervention continues to provide the essential skills that school drop outs and unemployment youth need in their quest towards financial independence. This project will build a vocational skills training center for orphans and vulnerable children in Petauke district eastern province of Zambia. This will help provide free education and vocational skills to 500 children orphaned and vulnerable due to HIV and AIDs who hail from the poorest sections of society in petauke district. Education has an enormous impact on the child's chances for success in life. The center will offer Carpentry and joinery; Tailoring and designing, Computer lessons; Bricklaying and welding. We need IT equipment, lap top computers, Sports kit, Bibles and books, Educational books, Carpentry tools and machines, Plumbing tools, Mechanic tools, Sewing machines, Knitting machines, Welding machines, Bricklaying tools and Transport for Outreach.
