Junior Achievement South Africa (JASA) offers young opportunity makers an experiential platform where they explore real business activities. Through our innovative and dynamic programmes, 38 years on, we assist in developing a thriving small business sector in South Africa and nurturing young entrepreneurs.

Founded in 1919 in the United States, JA is operational in 118 countries globally. The organisation was established in South Africa in 1979 and for the past 38 years JA South Africa has been providing experiential business, entrepreneurial and life skills to young people aged between 8 and 35 years nationwide in both rural and urban environments.
Independently audited by Deloitte, JA South Africa has earned the reputation of being a financially well managed organisation that effectively utilises resources to achieve a far reaching impact on the lives of the youth of South Africa.

Junior Achievement South Africa provides engaging entrepreneurial programmes which foster confident, empowered young people who are possibility seekers and creators of opportunities.

Through the delivery of hands-on blended learning in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship, we empower young people to grow their entrepreneurial ideas, hone their work skills, manage their earnings and investments, and secure better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities. Participants tackle real issues related to starting up and running a small business and graduates are equipped with the skills to start and build their own businesses or shape their careers in a knowledgeable and directed manner.
Interventions range from day-long workshops up to one year of training and mentorship. Designed to deliver measurable results, learners actively engage in real business and financial activities that encourage teamwork and leadership, with the flagship Enterprise Programme, aimed at Grade 10 and 11, requiring learners to start up and run real small businesses.

Our experiential programmes for school learners and out-of-school youth focus on:
• Entrepreneurial Development: We offer a range of programmes focussing on entrepreneurship.
• Financial Literacy: These programmes provide students with an excellent introduction to learning about money.
• Workplace Readiness: In an experiential way students explore potential careers and prepare for the workplace.

JA South Africa programmes play an important role in supporting the development of an entrepreneurial culture and providing practical skills development in the understanding and management of economics, entrepreneurship and personal finances. In this way, school leavers are able to shape a future for themselves through the establishment of businesses.
