Über uns
The Youth Empowerment Network is registered as a non-profit organisation with the Department of Social Development.
Since 1998, the Youth Empowerment Network has worked with close to 2000 disadvantaged and unemployed South Africans, between the ages of 17 and 26, empowering them to overcome inner oppression, and to develop self-confidence, lifeskills, and leadership qualities, as the bridge to a productive life.
Facing the Future with Courage is a full-time, 9-week empowerment programme that is run regularly in a range of communities. The programme’s nine modules include the following workshops: Teamwork and co-operation; Your relationships with others; Dealing with your emotions; Taking responsibility; Building confidence; Community research and story gathering; Entrepreneurial skills; Finding a job; Life planning. Afternoons of the programme are devoted to a variety of artistic or craft activities, and field trips, that integrate self-development, social development and skills development in a therapeutic way.
The Youth Support Unit provides a safety net for young people, by providing further training and coaching, as well as facilitating ongoing youth support groups. Participants are also assisted in accessing employment and small business opportunities.
David Liknaitzky is the Founder and Executive Director of the organisation.
For other net participants we can offer expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, deliver a lecture, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the following field: Youth empowerment.
