Jubayer Masud Educational & Charitable Trust (JMECT) is a not for profit organization based in Bongaigaon district of (Assam), India. working for community development with special emphasis on child education and livelihood issue in rural areas of Bongaigaon, Assam.
JMECT, founded in 2007, is working towards achieve its goal by providing ‘quality education to underprivileged children with livelihood supports to their parents and help to develop them into confident, employable and responsible citizens of tomorrow’. Aiming to improve the school culture and environment and help children to learn in a better way is always being a focus area of our intervention. Keeping in mind the adverse socio-economical condition and difficult education scenario in the area, apart from our team building agenda we have to continue with our existing programmes in schools and supplementary learning centres along with livelihood and disaster management program .
Our Mission
• To work for peace, communal harmony, justices, social and economic development of the society with special focus on children and education.
• To build a bridge between the government & public and work with like-minded organizations.
Programs:
• Livelihood: The goal of the program is to support poverty reduction to the poor parents who have school going children in their families by promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities. The extra earning component of the project support crop and livestock production, higher-value cash crops having appropriate and other forms of economic development products. Already reach out 1560 families under this program .
• Education Program: 10 primary schools is cover of ten villages within the existing framework by providing remedial support services for school going children specially on language and Mathematics who have no class appropriate learning level.
• Disaster Management: JMECT distributing relief materials during flood and corona pandamic since its inception .This relief program aims to support to emergency food , hygiene kits, emergency medical support to the poorest of the poor in our project area who are struggling to make ends meet . They need immediate help. JMECT already reach out 7500 families during various disaster like flood ,erosion and lastly corona pandamic.
• Model Education: The Trust has established a child education centre namely J.M. Academy in the year 2009 at Sontoshpur under the District of Bongaigaon to provide quality and creative education that brings human values in children. It is supported on alternative system of education where physical, mental, social and spiritual development in children has been trying to develop with joyful method of teaching and learning. The education centre has been running successfully and smoothly .
• Project Avahan (Against Violence At Home – Act Now!): Project Avahan is an initiative to challenge this notion and to break the culture of silence around violence. It seeks action from the survivor, the community and the State to stop violence which women suffer within homes. The project works at 3 levels to bring about change: a) Provide support to survivors of domestic violence. b) Changing the Culture of Violence Against Women:
