About us
The association arche noVa e.V. - initiative for people in need - is a charitable relief organization from Dresden.
In 1992, six young inhabitants of Dresden succeeded in bringing aid supplies to Iraqi Kurdistan with a lot of commitment, efforts and power. With an old semitrailer of the army and a bus they transported medical equipment, medicine, clothes and foodstuffs over 4000 kilometres and across six borders to the protective zone of the UNO which was built in the North of Iraq after the Gulf War. arche noVa was founded to be able to reasonably apply the experience which was gained at that time.
In our function as a relief organization, we wish to support those peoples and regional as well as ethnic groups who are suffering due to war, suppression or natural and environmental disasters. In doing so, we are trying to establish contacts with the same rights to our partners on the spot and to create the confidence which is necessary on both sides for the realization of the aid projects.
The extensive supply to hospitals in Bosnien-Herzegowina and Iraqi Kurdistan, for example, as well as the use and supply of mobile kitchens, supply to the population in villages of Iraqi-Kurdistan, delivery of sewing machines, textiles and accessories to a women centre in Iraqi-Kurdistan etc. belonged to the projects that have been carried out until today. In 1996, international youth camps were also organized in West-Bosnien where young people from Western Europe and Germany helped to reconstruct the town together with the Bosnian young people of their age.
At the moment, 2 collaborators out of the approx. 20 collaborators of the association are being financed with labour cost surcharges, all other collaborators are working in an honorary capacity.
arche noVa is working together with other organizations on a nationwide basis and is supported by committed individuals. The association is a member of the "Deutscher Paritätischer Wohlfahrtsverband in Sachsen" (German parity charitable institution in Saxon) as well as the network of Saxon related to development policy.
We offer other network participants overnight accommodations. Moreover, we can give advice to other net participants in the fields of humanitarian aid for Iraqi Kurdistan and Bosnien, we can give lectures and communicate up-to-date specialist information and arrange for contacts. We also have an exhibition referring to the problems of ground mines.
