About us
BADIL Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights is an independent, community-based non-profit organization mandated to defend and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees and IDPs. Our vision, missions, programs and relationships are defined by our Palestinian identity and the principles of international law, in particular international human rights law. We seek to advance the individual and collective rights of the Palestinian people on this basis.
BADIL Resource Center was established in January 1998 based on recommendations issued by a series of popular refugee conferences in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. BADIL is registered with the Palestinian Authority and legally owned by the refugee community represented by a General Assembly composed of activists in Palestinian national institutions and refugee community organizations.
Our work is implemented by two specialized units - campaign unit and resource unit - and guided by a Board, and supervised by an Oversight Committee, both of which are elected from the General Assembly.
BADIL Refugee Rights Campaign:
• BADIL's refugee rights campaign facilitates partnership-based initiatives with local Palestinian and international organizations to strengthen refugee identity, promote refugee unity, and empower initiatives of refugee self-organization for Palestinian refugee rights.
Intervention to Promote Palestinian Refugee & IDP Rights:
• One of the ways in which Badil works to promote a rights-based approach to the issues of Palestinian refugees and internally displaced persons is through legal advocacy interventions.
Education & Activation Project:
• This project involves one-year-long training courses, including study, field visits and practical activities, with 10 – 14 Palestinian refugee/IDP Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and their youth (aged 14 -17). The project is aimed at raising rights-awareness, basic skills and engagement in community organizing, advocacy and campaigning.
The Ongoing Nakba Education Center is Badil's information services program, aiming to make available resources to visitors, journalists, researchers, and the general public while maintaining up to date information on Palestine's Ongoing Nakba.
Mr. Hazem Jamjoum is the communication officer of this organization.
We can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
