About us
Pallisa Children´s Concern Project (PCCP) is a local Ugandan volunteer group that started in August of 1999 with the aim of advocating for disadvantaged children in Uganda. PCCP became a Community Based Organization in the year 2000. We are currently committed to caring for almost 200 orphans and needy children.
Our mission
PCCP exists to avail orphans and other vulnerable children with equal opportunity to quality education and decent living.
Our vision
Our vision is for every child to attend school and obtain an education, throwing open the doors of opportunity on a bright and promising future.
Our Programs and Services
We identify the most desperate of the desperate children. Most of our services are provided from our school and orphanage:
Quality academic education in primary
care, shelter and food for the orphaned children
programs to support psycho-social development beyond vulnerability through community counselling; nurturing support; mentorship
health care
support for their families
assistance seeking out family support and connections
programs to build generous and sustainable futures in character and livelihood through community counselling; nurturing support; mentorship
• education on local employment markets
• capacity building workshops on improved small scale production in agriculture, horticulture and livestock rearing to increase existing income
• training, mentoring and support programs dealing with emotional problems caused by AIDS, abuse, and poverty
Projects:
• Goat rearing project: Through partnership with The Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW.org.uk) we have been able to provide a pregnant goat to 50 female headed households in our community.
• Coffee Production: In addition to other crops, the land surrounding the primary school is used to grow coffee plants
• Biodegradable Toilet System (for teachers/staff)
• Pit Latrines & Hand-washing Stations (for student)
• Three-Classroom Block for Kindergarten Students
• Safe Drinking Water: Until a safe water source is established, the school currently uses water bags generously donated by Flowing Streams Ministries along with a Sawyer portable filter system. The water bags are used to transport water from the current source back to the school where it is then put through the filter system into a 5 gallon pail.
• Crops and Gardens: On PCCP land we grow maize, beans, coffee and tomatoes.
• Guest Houses: Proceeds from a family owned guest house in Maluku town help to fund our school.
• Bible Study
