About us
The Lotus Children´s Home is a Nepal-based orphanage for the welfare of children in need. Located in Kathmandu, Nepal, we create a caring environment for our children through the generous support of both local and international volunteers. In addition, we ensure that each of our children receives a proper education, something that we believe is essential to their future.
Our knowledgeable staff have a special affinity for children. Our president, Laxmi Shrestha, was herself formally an orphaned child, and her life experience has proven an inspiration and invaluable to our organization.
We also partially support several other orphanages in times of need. Because we are a small organization, with little overhead, we are able to use our donations for what matters most – the welfare of the children that we care for.
The children at The Lotus Children’s Home come from a variety of religious and cultural backgrounds. Most are sent to Kathmandu by single mothers who are forced by circumstance into difficult labor jobs, which make it impossible for them to care for their often many children.
We believe that health, education, and a loving environment are the rights of all children, and that through raising healthy educated children, we are contributing to the development of all of Nepal.
Laxman Shrestha is the co-ordinator of the Lotus Children´s Home.
For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
