About us

Young Heroes (Junge Helden) is a registered non-profit association, which is supported by the commitment of many volunteer helpers, prominent supporters and private donations.

In 2003 our founder Claudia Kotter and her family and friends were confronted with the topic of organ donation because she herself had to rely on a lung transplant. Together we quickly realized that we rarely came across organ donation in everyday life and if so, then in such a way that we did not feel personally affected.. To change that, we founded Young Heroes.

Our goal is to educate adolescents and young adults about organ donation, to motivate them to make a decision and to communicate this to family members and friends.

The Young Heroes team is convinced that you can only make a decision based on knowledge. Know what organ donation means. Know how organ donation works. Know that organ donation is an issue that concerns us all. The main goal is that everyone documents his decision for or against organ donation on the organ donor card.
To achieve this goal, our educational work is based on four concepts.
• Educational Actions: We educate at schools, universities, businesses and sporting events and have launched the series "A Hero Club".
• Educational Material: We produce and distribute educational material. Since 2015, our educational film "The decision is decisive" is online and available as a DVD.
• Public relations: Through regular contributions in the press as well as on our social media channels, we give the topic of organ donation far-reaching attention and promote public awareness.
• Cooperation: Through cooperation with ministries, associations, businesses and health insurance companies, we use synergies and facilitate effective education.

On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
