About us
leetHub St.Pauli is a non-profit association founded in 2015. Our goal is to work on key aspects of social participation innovatively, acting as an interface and bridge and thus to make a positive contribution to Hamburg's changing urban society in the medium and long term:
Our motto: Integration through self-employment for people with a refugee background.
People have hidden potential, which can be brought out in encounters, in synergies between them - making this potential visible and linking people together is our vision.
We help people with a refugee background to realize their ideas, goals and needs by founding their own companies and thus to contribute to their new, common society.
In a beautiful place on St. Pauli, people and groups network in our office community and create new perspectives and paths together. It is a meeting place, tolerant and unbiased.
In various programs, the association supports people with flight or migration background in all the stages of building an independent existence - individually or in teams, from freelancing to owning a company.
In addition to the bar and function room, a working space with up to 13 workstations forms the heart of the leetHub. The former dance studio offers a cosy and confidence-inspiring atmosphere in which everyone is welcome to enter.
Initiatives in the Hub:
• Start with a Friend arranges tandem partnerships between refugees and locals on an equal footing.
• Refugee Magazine: "From People, with People, for People" - this is the motto of Refugee Magazine's work of creating tolerance and acceptance of each other.
• Free German-Syrian Society: The association has made it its mission to promote communication and interaction between Germans and German-Syrians in order to improve life together in our society.
• Pinboards - a community platform for clubs, co-operatives, and companies to help members and employees to participate in community life.
• Triaphon: Triaphon is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the medical care of patients with language barriers.
Self-employment programmes:
• MoveOn: In leetHub, we give innovative and committed refugees the chance to develop their business idea and start their own companies. In the 6-month incubator program MoveON we support refugees on their way to independence. On site, we provide the participants with a workplace with a professional infrastructure, provide the necessary basic knowledge and accompany them in implementing their business idea - even beyond the founding of the business.
• Ice Academy: In the summer of 2018, leetHub started a pilot project in the field of work integration in Hamburg with Ben & Jerry's. People with a refugee background who live in Hamburg get the opportunity to get to know working life in Germany in cooperation with Ben & Jerry's for four months and to take part in business training in the leetHub. In particular, the idea of entrepreneurial action should be promoted in a series of workshops.
• RIC - Refugee Innovation Challenge: In the 12-week incubator program RIC, together with Stephan de la Peña (SEEN), we helped refugees and people from Germany to jointly develop innovative business ideas in order to make a positive contribution to the refugee context as a social entrepreneur to contribute to society.
Julia von Weymarn is the President of leetHub St.Pauli.
