About us
On January 26th 2016, the non-profit organisation U.V.C.O. Uganda – A Future for Street Children and Orphans in Masaka – was founded. U.V.C.O. stands for Uplift Vulnerable Children (streetkids) and Orphans - in English: "Support for vulnerable street children and orphans".
The purpose of the association is the financial support of street children and the orphans of the orphanage U.V.C.O. in Masaka, Uganda (Africa) through donations.
The orphanage was founded in 2009 by sister Agnes Norah with Angelina Scherer and Father Deus. In 2009, the number of children to be cared for had increased to 74. So they sought a helper team in the same year and hence was founded the organization U.V.C.O., which is officially recognised.
The children of the orphanage are mostly AIDS orphans. They are destitute and are cared for and accommodated in the orphanage that U.V.C.O. Masaka, Uganda has provided. School-age children are able to attend school. School education and the promotion of individual talents are financially and ideally supported. The association also wants to promote the future of street children and orphans by building and maintaining their own school.
In addition, the association wants to give Ugandan children in need of assistance an extended perspective for the future and also to promote international understanding through voluntary internships with people of different nationalities, predominantly from Germany.
Projects:
• Own U.V.C.O. School: The main end goal we want to achieve is, with the help of our fundraisers and sponsors, to finance school and kindergarten projects where motivated teachers, educators, cleaners and a director will work and, if necessary, live. They should all provide the children with a good education and treat them with respect. For our „Uplift children“, the school education there should be completely free.
• Lessons for school-age children: financing of school fees (including school uniform)
• Mediation of many sponsorships
• Purchase of 1.5 hectares of land where numerous banana trees have been planted to feed the children and the helper team
• Construction of a children's Home on this property where 80 orphans live during the one-month school holidays per quarter. In term time, the house is to function as an institute for students who have already graduated from the school, but who have not yet decided on a career. Here they can get to know different areas of work such as a tailor, cook, mechanic and other professions
• Purchase of a 10,000 litre water tank and rain gutters for the children's Home
• Construction of a pigsty and the purchase of animals for a small pig breeding enterprise.
• Purchase of fabrics to sew children's clothes, on the one hand for the children of the organization, on the other hand as merchandise
