About us
VISIONEERS is a non-profit, migrant organization. Driven by Christian charity, our goal is to “connect worlds” and create life-changing relationships.
VISIONEERS emerged from church work, was founded in April 2015 as a non-profit association and converted into a gGmbH in January 2022. A gGmbH is a non-profit company with limited liability under German law.
We support young people around the world who live on the fringes of society due to poverty, war, disease, hunger or religious persecution. Regardless of their worldview, religious conviction, ethnicity, gender or other personality traits, our team works on efficient concepts to improve their life situations in the long term and to show them new perspectives.
What we do:
Child and youth welfare: VISIONEERS is a recognized independent provider of child and youth welfare. Our focus is on various day-care, in-patient and out-patient offers such as youth employment assistance, taking into care of unaccompanied refugee minors, as well as language training and the integration of people with a migration background. We are the sponsor of the Berlin Holiday School and run it in Berlin-Schoeneberg during the Easter, summer and autumn holidays.
• National projects:
School workshops: VISIONEERS offers various interactive workshops or development policy project days for school classes.
SDG4 (Quality education) brings strong future leaders: VISIONEERS trains young adults to become competent "young leaders" who know the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and their transformative importance for a sustainable world and who want to and can actively support the implementation of those goals.
No Poverty: In two face-to-face workshops and online seminars, several school project days and various activities in Berlin, we approach the topic, look at it from different perspectives, get to know political instruments and development cooperation for poverty reduction and want to deal with the problem with constructive and measurable solutions.
Skills on Wheels: The VISIONEERS mobile, a converted minibus, enables voluntary commitment to be strengthened and made visible: young people with and without a migration background accompany the mobile and bring their talents to actions with and for other adolescents, e.g. in Homes or in social hotspots.
FairPlay boxing creates community: Through weekly boxing training, monthly social skills training, thematic workshops and accompanying excursions, we work with 150 young people and young adults from various Homes to reduce anger and aggression in order to avoid violence in everyday life.
Work instead of punishment: At VISIONEERS we offer the “Work instead of punishment” program funded by the Ministry of Justice, in which people who have been fined by a court can do community service. Among other things, this promotes feeling closer to the pulse and in the centre of society again, instead of being pushed away and condemned to the sidelines.
Workshop on labour market integration
Open youth club
• Corporate volunteering: A social team event at VISIONEERS gives companies the opportunity to get involved socially and is a unique team-building measure!
• Youth careers assistance: As part of our “Make a Move” offer in youth careers assistance, we support immigrants between the ages of 16 and 21 in their careers orientation. Young people go through a multi-month course program with us. The focus of our course program is on improving their German language skills. In addition, the participants acquire basic computer knowledge and social skills in various specialist modules.
Volunteer Services:
• weltwärts volunteer service: The weltwärts program was launched by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. In 2008, the first weltwärts volunteers were sent to countries in the Global South.
• European Solidarity Corps: The European Solidarity Corps is a new initiative of the European Union. It creates opportunities for young people to take part in volunteer projects that benefit communities and people across Europe.
• Language course in Costa Rica: Our partner organization regularly offers Spanish language courses at the VISIONEERS Finca in Costa Rica.
International programs
• FINCA VISIONEERS: The VISIONEERS finca is a coffee plantation and currently includes the construction of an education and meeting centre for young people, small coffee producers and their employees
as well as families in San Andres de León Cortes. The education centre will be a place for exchange, where a large number of people meet to improve their social skills through education, workshops and seminars
and to improve their financial situation and future opportunities and thus improve their quality of life.
• Proyecto Pollito: The Proyecto Pollito supports families or individuals who have lost their work within the villages on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. We have supplied a reusable wooden chicken coop and wire mesh fence and 6 chicks each. Thus, in the long term, a chicken farm should be built up.
On request, we can provide advice for other network participants, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date specialist information and contacts in the field of our work.
