About us
Established in 1993, the Foundation for Australia´s Most Endangered Species (FAME) is a national non-profit organisation that helps save Australia´s most endangered species from extinction.
Our Vision
To prevent any further extinctions of Australian wildlife.
FAME believes that wildlife is most likely to survive where it can live naturally in protected areas of natural habitat that include, so far as possible, the original biodiversity of the area and where introduced competitors and predators are excluded or significantly reduced in number.
Our Mission
To raise and effectively direct funds to projects that will save Australia´s endangered species from extinction.
Activities
• FAME provides support exclusively for Australian species most at risk of extinction, and for projects that would increase the likelihood of the survival of one or more of those species.
• FAME believes that a partnership approach to saving endangered species is the best use of scarce resources. We work with like-minded organisations, wildlife authorities and private land owners.
• FAME also conducts and supports programmes of environmental education so that Australians will have a greater understanding of the uniqueness of the Australian environment and its wildlife
Current Projects
• Protecting Bridled Nailtail Wallabies in Queensland
• Saving native fish in South Australia
• Preventing the spread of the Cane Toad
• Protecting endangered grassland mammals at Mt Rothwell Sanctuary
• Saving the endangered Tasmanian Devil
• Keeping endangered wildlife safe at Wadderin
• Bringing back the Western Quoll
