About us
Kinder der Erde (Children of the Earth) is a German non profit-making organisation, founded in 2006 with the aim of improving people’s understanding of the natural world and letting them experience natural interconnections.
We try to convey a comprehensive knowledge of the way natural systems and cycles function. Respect for life and all living things as well as responsible interactions with each other are of course expected from all participants, whatever their age.
We achieve this by means of ...
• Wilderness courses in our camps - for school classes, children, juveniles, adults and families;
Training for multiplicators and those interested in wilderness education;
Searching for a vision with nature mentoring – a personality development procedure over a one year time period;
• Mobile wilderness courses – in your region, your school or your community;
• Long term projects – primarily in after-school clubs or afternoon supervision periods in schools.
Our teaching of a sustainable awareness of nature follows the principles of “The Art of Mentoring” (Jon Young) and is an integral part of our supervision of participants. Topics include botany, medicinal plants, the practice of ancient abilities such as fire bows, tracking, the language of birds etc. These increase participants’ perception and thus their self-awareness and their thinking in terms of interrelatedness.
There are also activities lasting one or more days, in the form of camps or hikes. Participants witness other ecological networks (eg. mountain ranges, marshes, river landscapes). Based on the principles of non-violent communication as set out by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, the peaceful resolution of conflicts and the expression of one’s own needs are practised. The objective is that everyone develops an open and appreciative attitude towards themselves and others. Conflicts can then be dealt with effectively and without violence.
Dr. Barbara Deubzer is the President of Kinder der Erde.
On request, we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up to date information and contacts in the field of our work.
