About us
The Network for Environment and Economic Development (NEED) was established by Myanmar natives in 2006. Through the Model Farm Initiative School (MFI) NEED educate, train and empower the next generation of Myanmar civil society leaders in sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation and community based economic development in order to protect the livelihood, interest and human rights of all Myanmar people.
Our mission is to promote integrative sustainable farming practices which are rooted in traditional knowledge, are environmental friendly and provide an alternative to conventional agriculture.

Programs:
• Eco Village Farm School:
Young Farmer Program: To cultivate skills among young famers to be role models in their communities; To build a strong network of young farmers across the country. NEED has divided the six-month training curriculum into four main subjects: Organic Farming; Environmental Issues; Community Economic development; Basic Technology Skills
My Lead Program: To educate young leaders about Myanmar Agribusiness and Economics; To be a leader in the nation’s development of environmental and alternative agriculture programs. The MY LEAD program contains the following five topics: Myanmar Agribusiness and Economics; Legal System of Agriculture Sector in Myanmar; Alternative Agriculture for Rural Development in Myanmar; Environmental Studies; Social Media for Building Strong Networks
• Alumni Program:
Training, Educating and Consulting Center (TECC): Following their graduation, alumni of the Young Farmer Program start their own projects
• Community Outreach Program:
In addition to the main training program which brings farmers to our Hmawbi farm location, we have designed an advocacy and community outreach program. These projects include:Capacity-buildinworkshops; Small-scale model farm operations; Livestock breeding project; Traditional seed collection banks. The trainings and workshops are led by our alumni with the technical support and supervision of NEED-Myanmar.
Khaing Dhu Wan is the Executive Director/ Founder of NEED (Network for Environment and Economic Development) Myanmar.
For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
