About us
The Kitega Community Centre is an Independent Christian organisation in Uganda that was initiated by Rev. Canon Silas Musoke, with the help of the Kingserve Trust in Scotland. From 1999 to 2004 the Centre was under the umbrella of the National Association for the Mentally Handicapped and registered as an independent NGO in March 2004.
Kitega community Centre serves children with disabilities who were rejected and regarded as outcasts in their families and communities. Kitega Community Centre intervened to show that with the proper educational, social and emotional support, children with disabilities can learn the skills to be self-sustaining and contribute to their families and communities. This has been achieved through advocacy and support for independent living.
Our Mission
To empower children with disadvantages and disabilities, to advocate for disability rights, and to foster community-owned development so that everyone can lead dignified, productive lives.
Our Vision
To achieve a healthy, sustainable community where every member is respected and valued; leads a dignified life, and contributes to the development of their community.
