About us
Founded in 1992, the Mukono Multi-purpose Youth Organisation (MUMYO) is an Ugandian Non Governmental Organization dedicated to various issues aimed at promoting the rights and well- being of the young men and women, with emphasis on the marginalised social groups.
The young men and women present an opportunity for a sustained effort to participate in the country’s development process because they possess greater energy, work force and potential. We believe that engaging the youth and addressing their needs is critical to our organization mission to ending poverty and empowering them to take charge of their destiny and become forces of social change.

Mission
To inspire, educate and empower the young people, women and men, to transform their lives and achieve entrepreneurial success for self-reliance.
Overall Objectives
• To develop and strengthen youth programs, leading to self-reliance, through training, micro enterprise schemes and exchange visits
• To advocate for increase access to and quality education both formal and non formal including child education and career guidance
• To promote adult functional literacy, vocational and apprenticeship schemes for youth and out of school, street children and youth with disabilities.
• To build the abilities of young people to participate effectively in development and decision making process through youth camps, workshops and conferences.
• To initiate and implement projects geared towards hunger and poverty alleviation, improved healthcare environmental protection for sustainable development
Focus Areas
The organization’s programs and activities are aimed at promoting sustainable livelihoods among the underprivileged young men and women through;
• Lobbying and Advocacy
• Education and Skills training
• Health care promotion among the youth at risk,
• Agriculture and Environment
Projects
• Advocacy and support of orphans and vulnerable children: Ensuring access to essential services, education, health care, food and nutrition, psycosocial and other support.
• Education and Skills training: Raisng awareness through advocacy and social mobilisation to create supportive environment for orphans and vulnearable children.
• HIV/AIDS Prevention, Education, Care and Support
• Enhancing Young People’s Access to Adequate Housing Project (EYPAH): Advocating for the right to adequate housing using cooperative model
• Environmental conservation: Promoting tree planting, use of energy saving and improved cooking technologies
