About us
The Computer Scientists' Forum for Peace and Social Responsibility (FifF) was founded in 1984 and works towards technical developments which respect human dignity and contribute to the protection of democracy, basic rights and peace.
Within the framework of their professional ethics, our members advocate peaceful cooperation between all peoples and want to advance friendly international relations. Computer science ought to serve everyone, lightening their work load, improving their living standards and helping to avert damage.

Our activities:
• Annual seminar: FifF organises a 2-3 day public seminar at a different venue each year, on changing topics. Invited guests give lectures, run workshops and further education courses, and there are discussions on the theme of the day.
• Study prize: FifF awards a prize for excellent final theses showing the interplay between computer science and society. Thereby FifF encourages substantial interdisciplinary debate on this subject and raises public awareness of problematical developments.
• Publications: the quarterly magazine “FifF Communication” contains information about current issues, problematical developments and innovative concepts in the area of computer science and society.
• FifF is also one of the contributors to the series of books “Critical Computer Science”, published by LIT, as well as producing information brochures on topical subjects, intended to encourage critical debate.
