About us
Our non-profit association Tibethaus Deutschland looks back on almost 40 years of history. Under the spiritual leadership of H. E. Dagyab Rinpoche, the Chödzong Buddhist Center in Franconia initially existed for over 20 years, and since 2005 it has been further developed into the Tibet House Germany.
The cultural and educational institute under the patronage of the Dalai Lama is a living organism of employees, freelancers and many volunteers.
What we do
• It is a matter close to our hearts to strengthen cooperation and support for one another based on the thousands of years of Indo-Tibetan knowledge that emphasizes self-reflection and compassion. That's why we are committed to Tibetan culture and community worldwide. Through modern secular and spiritual offerings, we make Indo-Tibetan practical wisdom accessible and usable to anyone interested in our open house.
• An important premise in all Tibet House program planning is to build a bridge between Tibetan and Western values and views - in both directions.
• In the “Young Tibet House” project, the events for school classes and student groups under the patronage of the city of Frankfurt are led by a young Tibetan-German team. In addition, we are continually expanding our offerings for young people of all nationalities – especially Tibetans.
• Creating connections is important to us - on the one hand through hybrid and online events also for a supra-regional and international audience. On the other hand, through community-building, often free activities on site - often together with the Tibetan community.
• Around 350 evening courses, seminars, workshops and lectures take place every year on the topics and life areas of art and culture, personality development, Buddhism, medicine and dialogue in the Tibet House.
Main topics
We base our program and our projects on the great commitments of our patron, the XIV Dalai Lama, to which he dedicates his entire thinking and work.
His commitment is focused on promoting
• Tibetan culture
• global, contemporary ethics
• interreligious and intercultural dialogue, as well as
• the preservation and communication of Indo-Tibetan philosophy and psychology.
This focus is unique in the cultural institute landscape.
Our internal orientation is inspired by the basic ideas of the SEE Learning model of Emory University, of which we are the German-speaking cooperation partner. This program promotes the social, emotional and ethical development of each individual.
Furthermore, we feel committed to the intercultural concept of the city of Frankfurt.
We support intercultural action skills, the ability to empathize with people of other origins, reflection on one's own cultural influences and dialogue skills.
On request we can provide advice for other network participants, give a presentation, and provide current specialist information and contacts in the area of our work.
