About us

The Network for Adolescent and Youth of Africa (NAYA) is a youth led regional advocacy network founded in October 2001 by the African Regional Office of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA).
NAYA aims at enhancing the capacity of youth advocates, young people, youth led organisations and policy makers to undertake Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) advocacy at international, regional, national and counties in Kenya to improve the quality, affordability and accessibility of health including SRHR information and services.

Our Vision
A gender just society where all adolescents and young people enjoy their health including sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Our Mission
To advocate for the development and implementation of adolescent and young people friendly legislation and policies on health including sexual and reproductive health and rights at all levels.

Our Goal
To contribute towards an enabling legal and policy environment that respects, fulfils and protects health including sexual and reproductive health and rights of all adolescents and young people in Kenya.

Programs:
• Right Here Right Now II (RHRN II): The program seeks to meaningfully contribute to improved Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) indicators and galvanize meaningful involvement of the target audiences including young people, adolescent girls and young women and marginalized groups including young people living with disabilities, young people living with HIV, LGBTIQ, teen mothers, young sex workers and adolescent girls broadly in the ages of 10-24 years. Outcomes: Young people 10-24 years in all their diversity in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu in Kenya empowered to make decisions about their sexuality, voice their needs and claim their SRH rights; A critical mass reinforcing positive norms and values regarding young people’s SRHR and gender justice; Government’s adoption, implementation and accountability for human rights-based policies and laws that enable young people’s SRHR and gender justice; Strong CSO network for young people’s SRHR and gender justice.
• Power to Youth (PtY): The vision of the Power to You(th) consortium is that Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) from underserved communities make informed choices, enjoy their sexuality, and are free from harmful practices in gender-equitable and violence-free societies.
• She Leads (Kenya): The strategic objective of the program is to increase sustained influence of girls and young women on decision-making and the transformation of gender norms in formal and informal institutions.
• You(th) Care: The project aims to enable adolescents and young people aged 10-25 years, especially adolescent girls and boys at risk of poor SRHR and HIV outcomes
• Safe and Inclusive Cities (SAIC II): Programme objectives are: Children, adolescents and young people have the skills, attitudes and opportunities to drive sustainable, gender transformative change; An inclusive and resilient civil society advances and protects the rights of children, adolescents, and young people and is responsive to their needs; Duty-bearers and the private sector respect children, adolescents, and young people’s rights, are responsive to their needs, recognize their skills, and offer relevant opportunities.
• CWCR (Migori): The project Focus: Strengthen the capacity of girls and women through training, and mentorship to speak out and advocate for the protection of their rights; Empower CSOs and young people to advocate social behaviour change and resource mobilization, through media advocacy and linkages with regional and global youth movements; Challenge negative social and gender norms that violate the rights of adolescent girls and young women including FGM and other harmful practices, through engaging community leaders, community members and families in Kuria East and West; Strengthen Migori County systems for effective coordination and collaboration with relevant stakeholders, to increase uptake of appropriate anti-FGM interventions aimed at prevention, protection and care for girls and women.
