About us

Elimu Community Light is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering underprivileged communities through initiatives focused on early childhood development, education, and livelihoods. Established in 2006, our organization grew from an early childhood care center to address the broader needs of underprivileged communities.

Vision
We envision empowered and developed communities in Tanzania.

Mission
Our mission is to bridge underprivileged communities with opportunities through early childhood development, education and livelihood initiatives. We aim to remove obstacles so these communities can access their full potential and achieve development.

Programs
• Early Childhood Development (ECD) We promote health, nutrition, early learning, responsive caregiving, safeguarding and nurturing opportunities for underprivileged children to develop to their full potential.
• Education Our initiatives bridge gaps and facilitate access to quality primary and secondary education.
• Livelihood initiatives We equip youth and women with vocational skills, entrepreneurship training, and pathways to economic empowerment.

Our Approach
At elimu, we take a catalytic approach focused on root causes and systemic change to drive multi-generational impact. We believe in unlocking human potential through:
• Asset-based, collaborative models
• Partnerships with philanthropists and like-minded organizations
• Passion, optimism, and a results-driven methodology
