About us
Childhood Development Organization (CDO) is a non-profit making local NGO registered nationally but operating from the Morogoro Region. Currently, CDO is operating in only three districts (Mvomero, Ifakara TC, and Mlimba) out of nine districts of the region. The Organization is determined to support communities to improve their livelihoods. CDO was registered with a certificate of compliance number 0756 issued on 11th June 2008 with a new registration number 00NGO/R1/00942 issued on 22 July 2022.

CDO to be a vibrant Organization that envisions a society in which communities and children enjoy their basic rights and needs.
Our Mission
“A vibrant, sustainable Non-Governmental Organization aiming at empowering disadvantaged children with basic needs for their childhood and proper development through community engagement”.
Thematic Areas
• Education: Early Childhood Development, Primary Education, Early Childhood Education, Support Primary, Secondary and College students.
• Health and Nutrition: School Feeding Programs, HIV/AIDS, Home-based counseling (HBC), Voluntary HIV/AIDS testing, CDO educate, prevent and support HIV interventions.
• Economic Empowerment: CDO complies with NSGRP (MKUKUTA) at all levels. We provide entrepreneurship education and seed capital to low-income families to run petty businesses. CDO supports elders with social services such as mattresses, bed sheets, CHF, and monthly food ration.
• Safeguarding and Child protection: It is a cross-cutting component mainstreamed in all program areas.
Our Overall objectives:
Build, strengthen and empower poor children and communities to scale up response for the survival, growth, development, and protection with priority to the most vulnerable and marginalized groups.
Projects:
• In collaboration with Changarawe - Project Nigel Lloyd Students: CDO supports orphans Students from Mzumbe Ward; Nigel Lloyd Resource and Library Center programs for orphans students; Tailoring activities (entrepreneurship Training to orphans students and Community)
• In collaboration with Changarawe Project - BabuBibi Project: Social Day Event every month; Health Insurance to elders (CHF Cards); General services are normally given to elders
• Integrated School Readiness Program (ISRP)/Watoto Wetu Tunu Yetu” funded by Children in Crossfire: The Program has three components which are Early Stimulation / Parenting (0-2) Early Childhood Education which is divided into two areas -Community ECD Centers (3-4 years) and Pre-primary classes (5-6years).
• Mtoto Kwanza Project: To support regional level advocacy and coordination of Multsectoral ECD efforts across the regional and local Government.
• Afya Yangu Maisha Yangu (My Health My Life Project) funded by ViiV POSITIVE ACTION GRANTS: Enhancing access to quality HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health services to adolescent girls and young women)
Felistas Leonard Kalomo is the Executive Director of Childhood Development Organization (CDO).
For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
