About us

Tanzania Youth Espouse for Gender Development (TYEGD) is a Non-profit organization registered in 2017 in Tanzania, focused on training, advocacy campaigns, economic empowerment programs and access to innovations in the Agriculture, Environmental, Gender Equality and Social inclusion, Education and Health sector in Mara and Mwanza regions, Tanzania.

Our mission
To support young people to become main actors for social change in the community by fighting against inequality through education and empowerment.

Our goal is to increase the health, well-being and livelihood of communities, particularly women and youth. We deliver training workshops, develop and disseminate social awareness campaigns, introduce farmers and other beneficiaries to innovative solutions, and organize conferences and dialogues.

TYEGD’s activities relate to our 3 strategic areas of actions,
• Agriculture Livelihood and Environmental Protection: TYEGD focuses on Agriculture Livelihood and Environmental Protection as a critical thematic area aimed at enhancing sustainable livelihoods and improving food security within local communities. So far, TYEGD has implemented the African Cassava Agronomy Initiative (ACAI) Project: The aim of the project was to increase the availability of appropriate and affordable technologies to sustainably improve cassava productivity in the short and long-term agricultural productivity in cassava in the target countries such as Tanzania and Nigeria.
Furthermore, TYEGD in consortium of Weather Impact (WI), Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) and Esoko Company Limited, are implementing the Kilimo Thabiti project, focused on integrating weather information and Good Agriculture Practices (GAPs) for cassava and maize crops production in Mara region, reaching to 2,632 smallholder farmers (Women and Youth. The project is funded by Fund for Innovation in Development (FID)
• Gender Equality and Social Inclusion: YEGD considers gender equality and social inclusion as a key focus area, ensuring that all of their projects and programs reach women and girls in the community. We dedicate efforts to empowering and involving women and girls in economic activities by providing them with the knowledge and resources to achieve their goals. Gender Equality and Social inclusion focusing on the following key areas: Women; Raising awareness and educating the community on human rights, Providing legal assistance services to marginalized women as well as Fighting against gender-based violence
• Youth Empowerment through Education and Health: TYEGD emphasizes Youth Empowerment through Education and Health as a vital thematic area aimed at fostering the development of young people into active agents of change within their communities. This initiative encompasses a range of programs designed to enhance skills, promote health awareness, and empower youth economically. Under this thematic areas TYEGD engage youth as agent of change in the communities it works through the following key areas: Vocational training g. Garment designing and making, computer training, carpentry, shoe making; Entrepreneurship skills training and Income Generating Activities; Women and Youth economic empowerment; Civic education; Sexual reproductive and health services; Nutrition education; Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV); Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH); Education.

Benjamin Kadikilo is the Executive Director of Tanzania Youth Espouse for Gender and Development (TYEGD).
