About us

Action Le Vert (ALV) is a Non-Governmental Organization under Congolese law created on July 4, 2001 following the multiple difficulties linked to the atrocities caused by the repeated wars of 1996 (AFDL), 1998 (RCD) and other rebellions caused by both internal and external troops.
ALV was born following the multiple difficulties felt by the population of South Kivu and eastern DRC in general, which worsened following the arrival of thousands of Rwandan and Burundian refugees in the region and the atrocities caused by the repeated wars, 1996 (AFDL), 1998 (RCD-GOMA) and other rebellions which continue to make the populations of the east squat in misery and which extends into neighboring countries.
ALV is operating in in 5 provinces of the Country: In South Kivu, North Kivu, Kinshasa, Haut-Uelé and Ituri.

Objective:
Promote environmental protection through concrete reforestation actions, community awareness and the adoption of sustainable practices in order to restore ecosystems and ensure a healthy future for future generations

Mission
The mission of the organization consists of alleviating, as little as possible, the suffering of this battered population by providing them with support to guarantee food security, the supervision of youth, the retraumatization of women and children victims of rape, the legal-medical support for the latter,…

Vision
A healthy man in a healthy environment! We aspire to a world where every community takes care of its environment, where reforestation and ecological practices are at the heart of sustainable development, and where nature is protected to ensure a green and livable planet for generations to come.

Areas of intervention
• Food security: ALV supports local producers through agricultural facilitators to improve yields. She raises awareness about the use of compost
• Environmental protection: As part of the restoration of ecosystems and landscapes, ALV has carried out the following activities: Installation of agroforestry and fruit nurseries in some territories
• Education: In the field of education, ALV is involved in Professional Training and Trade Apprenticeship. At this stage, it has built two Centers in Kasihe and Ciriri.
• Health: ALV works to improve access to health care, particularly for families in rural areas. We carry out hygiene and nutrition awareness campaigns

Activities:
• Reforestation and forest restoration: We are actively engaged in the reforestation of deforested areas in order to restore destroyed ecosystems.
• Promotion of improved stoves: Construction and distribution of improved stoves such as Rocket Lorena Stove to reduce deforestation
• Environmental education: We organize awareness campaigns and educational workshops in schools on the importance of environmental protection.
• Action Le Vert has set up a Rehabilitation and Equipment Program for vocational training and trades centers that have been affected by the war. These Education Recovery and Trades Learning Centers (CREAM) in acronym implement two strategies: School catch-up for children who have exceeded school age and then direct them into vocational training and trades. Vocational training for women and young people in several sectors: Carpentry, Masonry, Automotive Mechanics, Electricity, Plumbing, IT, Mixed Hairdressing and Cutting and Sewing, Agri-business and Culinary Art.
