About us

Mobile Hilfe Madagaskar e.V. is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Münster, practically active in Madagascar. A current confirmation of the non-profit status by the tax authorities is available.
Our primary goal is to improve the health care in the catchment area of our homebase and with our mobile facilities this beyond our borders.
In close cooperation with our partner organizations (Tulisa, Pro interplast Seligenstadt, Ny hary, Airtel, Mission Station in Mantasoa) we are able to improve the living situation of the people in the long run.
Our work is characterized by humanity and charity, our basic values are the Christian image of man. We treat our patients with dignity and respect. We provide free medical assistance to all destitute people, with a focus on people from the poor quarters, women, children and families.

MHM Germany: Tanja Hock founded the German non-profit association “Mobile Hilfe Madagaskar e.V.” with the support of her family and friends in 2010. This created the legal and financial basis for her project.
The primary goal of the active association members in Germany is to collect donations to enable the valuable work that Tanja and her team do in Madagascar.
This is done, for example, by selling jams and handicraft products, presenting the work of the association at congresses, civic festivals, Christmas markets and the like.
Another focus will be crowdfunding on social media channels. The proceeds of all actions will go entirely as a donation to the association.
Larger tasks are the procurement of grants and large donations for the construction of the hospital, facilities for further education and training and ongoing operating costs.

MHM Madagascar: The work of MHM e.V. in Madagascar started very small. The people have accepted our offer of free medical care and so we have grown continuously. Currently, we employ 135 people from a wide range of professions. All of our local employees are Malagasy. For these people, this means having a secure job, a regular and reasonable income. With this they can feed their families and enable their children to attend school.
About 60 of our employees work in the medical field: doctors, dentists, midwives, nurses, anesthesia nurses, dental assistants. All others work in mechanics and construction, administration and finance, logistics, purchasing, warehousing, kitchen, cleaning and hygiene. Our youngest are taken care of by trained social workers and for our own safety we need a guard service.

What we do:
Medical treatment
• Health Centre: Our health centre is an outpatient care facility with a variety of specialties. Open daily from Monday to Saturday – and for emergencies, the team is available around the clock.
• Dentist Mobile: Since 2012, we have also taken care of the dental health of the Malagasy. First with our mobile facility. In 2019, we were also able to establish a dental practice.
• Ambulance: Our ambulance saves lives. In the truest sense of the word! Our primary vehicle for transfers to one of the capital’s larger hospitals often save lives.
Obstetrics
• Obstetrics hospital: Tanja is a midwife, her heart beats for obstetrics. Her work started in a small maternity room in the infirmary of Nehemiah e.V. and since the hospital opened in January 2019, we have become the obstetric centre for everything north of the capital.
• Midwife Mobile: Tanja’s work for the poorest began with the Midwife Mobile. And from this has developed what we are today!
Support and resources
• Kids Club: Many children do not have a chance of a proper upbringing and education. This is where we come in with our Kids Club and are happy when we see smiling children’s eyes.
Further development
• Further education: Our employees are an important resource. We support them through further education and training, thus ensuring our quality standards.
• Cooperations: Together you are stronger! With our cooperation partners we expand the range of our work.

For other net participants we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, give an expert opinion, procure expert information and establish new contacts in the field of our work.
