About us
Agape of Hope is an indigenous local NGO not-for- profit making organization founded in 2005 and registered with NGO Bureau in the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a certificate of registration and incorporation number S.5914/9837.
Agape of Hope was founded with an aim of equipping young women victims of economic and social forces with information and knowledge of reproductive health, vocational skills, improved farming, Environmental protection and human rights to enhance their capacity to become responsible citizens. Agape of Hope helps to improve the lives of young women by empowering them with knowledge and skills for self-reliance. The target beneficiaries of our programs are adolescent girls in school, out of school youths, young mothers/women, maids, young women with disabilities and orphans.

Organizational mission
To empower the female youth/ young mothers with knowledge and skills about their rights through reproductive health & education, improved farming, skills development, environmental protection and human rights and good governance.
Organizational objectives
• Enhancing the female youth with basic information and knowledge on human rights to become responsible citizens
• Establishment of a training center for young women in vocational and technical skills for economic empowerment to help them earn a living in their own communities
• Equipping the adolescent youth with life skills for prevention of early pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS for them to complete school.
• Equipping young women with improved farming practices to reduce household poverty, hunger and malnutrition in families.
• Promoting clean environment practices through tree planting and waste recycling

Activities:
• Awareness raising about Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Issues: This program highlights adolescent reproductive health issues among young people which includes promotion of menstrual hygiene management, prevention of early marriage, early pregnancies/unintended pregnancies, abortions, promotion of maternal health, family planning, child headed households, prevention of obstetric fistula and STDs including HIV/AIDS.
• Vocational and technical skills development: This program is mainly targets out of school youth and young mothers to make them earn a living through hands-on skills. Presently the young women are trained by female and male teachers in several vocational skills that include but not limited to the following trades: tailoring, hairdressing, knitting, tie & dye and basket weaving. This is an economic empowerment program for women and girls.
• Improved farming: The program targets parents and teachers to equip them with improved farming techniques that include the following activities: kitchen gardening, organic farming, goat rearing and poultry keeping. Established kitchen gardens for vegetable growing will improve the nutrition of children in families to promote the education of children.
• Environmental protection: The program focuses on tree planting, environmental conservation and energy saving practices. This includes establishment of nursery beds for raising seedlings, growing different tree species, controlled harvesting, mulching, recycling of waste, and making of energy saving cook stoves and, marketing of products.
• Human Rights Promotion and Good Governance: This is a cross-cutting and mainstream program that discussed during the implementation of other programs and activities of the organization. It focuses on gender-based violence prevention, child rights promotion and proper parenting practices.
• Additional organizational activities include Training in basic entrepreneurship (financial management) skills and soap making and tye and dye to add value of clothes. All that will enable the trainees to earn a living. The training will be conducted in Agape’s workshops assisted by local entrepreneurs in Kasese town.
