About us
The “Hope” initiative was founded in 2013 and has been a registered association since July 2017.
The association consists of two board members and 19 members. The team comprises volunteers as well as permanent staff. We are also able to rely on practical support from our circle of supporters.
We are members of the alliances ‘Gemeinsam gegen Menschenhandel e.V.’, ‘Blickfeld-Menschenhandel e.V.’ and the European network ‘European Freedom Network’. We are committed to being professionally trained, which is why we regularly take part in seminars, training courses and further professional development. Our team receives regular individual and group supervision.
We are a Christian-oriented organisation. The Christian view of humanity forms the foundation of our work.
At Hope e.V., we are primarily committed to supporting those affected by human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, also known as forced or poverty-driven prostitution.
What we do:
• Outreach work: Our streetwork team regularly visits the red-light district to meet the women there. We build relationships with them, give them hope for a life outside prostitution, explain the German legal situation, and accompany and support them as they leave prostitution. Our aim is for every person in prostitution to realise: “There is hope and a way out for you. You are of immeasurable value!”
• Public awareness work: It is important to us to inform our society about the issues of human trafficking and forced prostitution. Our aim is to raise public awareness of the issue in order to reach as many people as possible and to find supporters for our work. The more people know about this issue and talk about it, the more people will learn about the injustice that is taking place on a daily basis in our country and around the world. We are happy to speak at seminars, webinars, conferences, church services, themed evenings, women’s breakfasts, clubs and similar events about our work and the issues of human trafficking and forced prostitution.
• Prevention work: Awareness-raising and prevention work in schools and youth groups – we visit schools, educational institutions and youth groups across Baden-Württemberg. It is very important to us to educate children and young people about ‘lover boys’ and pornography, and to help them build their self-esteem.
• Training sessions: In these sessions, we empower groups and initiatives to stand up for women’s dignity alongside us. In various areas such as outreach work, public relations, prevention work and leadership, we are happy to share our experience with you and support you wherever we can.
• Political engagement: We are also committed to raising awareness within the political sphere and creating new avenues for engagement on this issue. Through our work, we promote the inviolable dignity of all people within society. We engage in dialogue with politicians, organise demonstrations calling for the abolition of human trafficking, and emphasise that women are invaluable at all times and in all places.
