About us

The Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development (COTRAD) is a youth oriented registered non-governmental organization which was formed by a group of former student activists striving on promoting informed and positive participation of the generality of the youths and also reintegrating the minority youth victims of political violence into the mainstream society. It is inspired by the values to respect human rights and the desire to have Zimbabwe youth participating in the build up to sustainable justice, freedom, peace and development, a country that values democracy, rule of law and the security of all persons.
Programme activities were initiated in 2010 in Masvingo Province. The registration of the organization as a Trust with the Ministry of Justice was concluded in 2012.

Our mission is to address the youth leadership gap by creating a movement that makes leadership development programs accessible and affordable worldwide. We’re also committed to youth advocacy, expanding opportunities for young people to lead in social, political, economic, technological, and environmental spheres.

Our goal is to create a world where young people are actively engaged in decision-making, governance, and leadership across all sectors. Through our advocacy work, we’re empowering young people to take charge of their own futures and shape the world they want to live in.

COTRAD is a youth-led organization that’s passionate about empowering young people to become the change-makers of tomorrow. We believe that investing in youth leadership development is the key to unlocking a brighter future for our communities and our world.
Through peer-to-peer leadership development and networking opportunities, we’re building a movement of young leaders who are equipped to tackle the toughest challenges facing our society. Our approach is holistic, participatory, and tailored to the needs of young people in Zimbabwe.
We believe that every young person has the potential to make a difference, and we’re committed to supporting those who are often overlooked or underrepresented. That’s why we prioritize the leadership development of young women, youth with disabilities, and minority groups.

Zivanai Muzorodzi is a Team Leader of Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development (COTRAD).
