About us
The German-Siberian Community originated from the idea to be there for needy children in Siberia. Since our foundation, our aim has been to help in the places where the need is greatest.
Wolfgang Herzog came to Ulan-Ude for the first time in 1999, on a trip with the Trans-Siberian Railway,. At that time, the German-Russian Community Kraichgau asked him to visit a children's hospital together with his travelling companion and to hand over a donation to the tuberculosis patients. Herzog was shocked by the conditions in the clinic.
In order to be able to raise monetary and material donations even more effectively, Wolfgang Herzog founded the Association German-Siberian Community e.V. (DeSiGn e.V) in 2002. The helper rummages through medical equipment in German hospitals, which is no longer needed there. He asks companies for medicines and individuals for money for equipping schools. What you can buy in Russia will be procured locally, but certain technology has to be imported from Germany. That's the hardest part. Not only because the road is long and the transport is expensive, but above all because the customs regulations are so complicated.
Meanwhile, Wolfgang Herzog is not only active in Germany, but also in Buryatia itself. In Ulan-Ude there is a branch of the German-Siberian Community. It is planned to set up a Home for children from the region who have TB.
Projects:
• We currently support five Tbc child sanatoriums in Arshan, Kurumkan, Ulan-Ude.
• We own five foster homes in Kishinga, Charashibir and Bar.
• We support the model project "Safe Harbour" in Ojor in the Dzshida area and finance 3 houses there.
• We support the Children's House (orphanage): "Djetski Dom" in the suburb of Ulan-Ude.
Wolfgang Herzog is the founder of The German-Siberian Community.
On request we can offer other net participants advice, give a presentation, and provide up-to-date information and contacts in the field of our work.
