About us

The Angel Centre for Abandoned Children was founded in October 2009, by Wamaitha Mwangi, who serves as the chairlady. The Angel Centre is a non-governmental organization, based in Waithaka, Kenya. Our aim is to take in abandoned and orphaned babies, 2 years of age and under.

The goal of the centre is to ensure that we help all children at the centre to get a proper education, good nutrition, clothing, medical care and most importantly a place to call home.

Located in Limuru, Kenya, the Angel Center for Abandoned Children is dedicated towards rescuing babies that are abandoned at hospitals, thrown by the roadside, dumped in trash bins or left at churches. At any one time, approximately 20 infants, some with HIV, are being cared for and raised. The center serves as a halfway house by taking in infants, and raising them to an age of 12 to 24 months, after which a caring and supporting family is identified to adopt and raise the child. If no family is identified, the children remain at the Angel Center for as long as needed.

At Angels Centre, children receive:

• Love & affection.
• Medical care.
• Complementary therapy.
• Good nutrition.
• Most importantly, a place to call home until they find their long term families.

Wamaitha Mwangi is the Founder and Chairlady of the Angel Center for Abandoned Children.
