About us

SABAWON is working in Pakistan since 1994. The organization was initially established by a handful of social activists, but did not take long to win national reputation for its work and achievements in the field of social development. Established originally as a welfare-oriented organization, SABAWON gradually transformed itself into a professional entity working through a broad based multi-sectoral approach to community empowerment.

What makes SABAWON stand out is, that its growth has been actively guided by field experiences and organizational needs: From 4 staff members to 182, from a few projects to an integrated programme in 500 villages, from one half of an annexe to 8 offices, from mere rallying to integrating community development and advocacy, and from an unknown NGO to a notable civic organization in the country. Through this all, SABAWON has managed to sustain its most important component: the beliefs and values that bind the organization together. It is this set of principles and beliefs, that forms the real strategy of SABAWON, that sets it apart from similar organizations in the country. And it is these values, that form the heart of institutional strategy of SABAWON.

The programme portfolio of the organization includes

- intervention in education and literacy,
- health, hygiene, water and environmental sanitation,
- promoting gender and child rights,
- networking and linkage development.

Mr. Mohammad Farooq is the programme manager. He is a member of the board of directors as staff representative.

For other net participants we can offer overnight facilities. Further we can offer an expert guidance through trained staff, deliver a lecture and establish new contacts in the field of our work. We can initiate development projects together for Pakistan and Afghanistan.
