About us
The Global Stewardship Foundation Africa (GSFA) is a registered National NGO in 2002, and is an affiliate of Global Stewardship Foundation, a U.S. non-profit corporation.
GSFA is working in cooperation with recycling/refurbishing centers in the US and England to provide computer donations in bulk. These organizations receive the unwanted equipment from individuals, corporations and government institutions.
Being also non-profit, they work with volunteer staff to repair and check the equipment and palletize it for shipping. Once this equipment is ready for shipment, it is picked up by a shipping company and sent by sea container to Mombasa, Kenya. From there it is trucked in to Kampala, Uganda, to our affiliate's warehouse.
In preparation for the equipment in Uganda, beneficiary schools, are canvassed by our technical volunteers. They install voltage stabilizers and voltage converters purchased by the schools participating in the program. On receiving the equipment, they proceed with distribution and installation. They also install Internet modems where telephone is available and is affordable by the school.
The program then proceeds with training seminars for teachers to equip them with skills for efficient handling of the computer studies syllabus. Also considered are hardware skills for troubleshooting/recovery of basic faults and accurate reporting while seeking technical support.
GSFA is proposing the setting up of support centers/workshops for schools, as they cannot afford cost of technical support from corporate firms.
Vera Pringle is the Executive-Director of the foundation.
