About us

The Foundation to Encourage the Potential of Disabled Persons is a legally registered, private Thai Foundation originally founded by Donald Willcox in 1993 in the Province of Chiang Mai (northern Thailand). The Foundation is currently managed by Donald Willcox and Piranan Singjai and focuses on providing free mobility aids to poor and needy rural and remote area disabled persons. The Foundation also provides a home visit therapy and health program
for area house-bound disabled persons. As of January 2013, the Foundation had
donated more than 3,400 free mobility aids across 5 Provinces of north Thailand.
The Foundation regularly empowers and employs disabled persons.

- Earlier in its history, the Foundation established a one year resident computer training program for disabled persons at the Yardfon Vocational and Rehabilitation Training Center for the Physically Disabled at Mae Taeng, Thailand. By the year 2013, approximately 300 students had already graduated from this one year program.

- By the year 2002, the Foundation had already published (and distributed free of charge) 8 Thai language books dealing with disability issues, including: a "Polio Survivor's Guide" and supplementary report on PPS; a "Wheelchair User Manual"; a "Self Help Manual For Disabled Persons"; and Thailand's first and only children's book introducing physical disability to Thai children.

- The Foundation regularly assists disabled persons find employment, and has assisted as a bridge for several local employers who have successfully trained and employed disabled persons.

- The Foundation regularly provides medical, surgical, and prosthesis assistance to needy area disabled persons. The Foundation sincerely appreciates
wheelchair sponsorship assistance.
