About us
We are of the opinion that ecological villages/settlements are an alternative to large towns/industrial areas to escape the vicious circle of unemployment and pollution - the effects on the quality of the life of many people are known. To solve the environmental crisis, we do not only need new technological developments, but also new social rooms and structures in which one’s own action is again experienced as “full of sense”.
The scope of our forms of unions reaches from communes with a joint house-keeping up to friendly organized ecological settlements. A variety ranging from the personal emancipation via ecological techniques up to new forms of spirituality is dealt with. Even if individual possible solutions do not always find the consent of all communities, we feel our differences to be reasonable. But we also regard unusual experiments and the exploration of rather taboo subjects of society as necessary. A border that must not be crossed is in any case the right of self-determination of the individual(s) and the conformity with the human rights.
In view of the whole variety of attempts we are joined by the effort to reach an integration of social and ecological objectives. Consequently, the following principles have an indispensable connection for us.
- collaboration of all members of the community on decisions, respectively decision structures with equal rights
- life and house-keeping oriented towards ethical values, such as solidarity and entirety as well as ecological and social criteria
- Share of responsibility for a just and violence-free earth.
Rolf Brinkmann was born in Herzberg/Harz in 1940 and grew up in Bad Rothenfelde. Studies of architecture and regional development planning in Dortmund as well as studies of town and regional development planning in Denver. Since 1993, working independently as an architect and regional development planner. Foundation of the initiative “Ökodorf Osnabrück” and plannings for ecological settlements (in Osnabrück, Georgsmarienhütte, Bissendorf, Hamburg).
After prior agreement, we can give expert advice for other net participants, deliver expert opinions, give lectures and communicate up-to-date specialist information and arrange for contacts in the fields of ecological planning and building, settlements and joint projects.
