Sobre nosotros
Sindh Development Society (SDS) was formed in 1991 and registered in May 1994 under the Societies Act 1860, to participate in the process of development and social uplift of the backward areas of the province of Sindh.
SDS is one of the few organizations with a wide-range agenda on development. In its short span of existence, SDS has been actively involved in the development projects in the areas of non-formal education, sanitation, environmental protection, human rights, advocacy, political education/awareness, primary health care, capacity building of grass-root local CBOs, disaster relief services.

Mission:
To uplift the living standard of the people living in the backward areas of the province of Sindh through participatory, sustainable and integrated development initiatives and to promote and advocate the rights of underprivileged and vulnerable sections of the society.
The objectives of SDS are to:
• Initiate and educate communities into the dynamics of community organizations;
• Promote the understanding of the people on socio-political issues;
• Foster organizational provision of innovative initiatives for women aiming at carving social and economic space for them in the rural polity
• Facilitate NGOs/CBOs in designing long-term programs aiming at the provision of basic civic amenities;
• Enlighten the policy-making bodies and international development agencies about socio-economic developments and issues emerging at the grassroots level;
• Create awareness and promote the concept of good governance among CBOs/NGOs and public representatives;
• Sensitize the human rights, women rights and child rights violation issues in the public;
• Highlight the socio political issues through media dialogues, public forums, seminars, and advocacy campaign in the existing system; and
• Lobbying with public representative and official for good governance sustainable human development.
Program and Thematic Areas
• Awareness, Advocacy and Capacity Building (Awareness and advocacy for different social, political and economic issues, Capacity –Building of gross -root level CBOs)
• Human Rights (women, children, special children, minorities, and socially excluded groups)
• Women Empowerment (economically, socially and politically through social mobilization, enhancement of their skills, exhibition and marketing of handicrafts, introduction of new skills and occupations for women particularly rural women)
• Primary Healthcare Care and Education (reproductive health, family planning counseling, awareness regarding sexually transmitted disease, HIV/AIDS)
• Basic Education (Formal, Non-formal, Adult literacy)
• Micro-Enterprise Development (skill development, income generation)
• Environment and Sanitation (Plantation, awareness)
• Research and Publications (conducting research on various issues and bringing out a quarterly newsletter Auratazad on women issues)
