Sobre nosotros
FXB International (Association François-Xavier Bagnoud), founded in 1989, is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and families hit hardest by poverty and AIDS. FXB works alongside the communities we serve to improve local health, education, and economic opportunity. We are committed to ensuring that all progress is sustainable and lasting.
The mission of FXB is to fight poverty and AIDS, and support orphans and vulnerable children left in the wake of the AIDS pandemic. FXB offers comprehensive support to the families and communities that care for these children, and advocates for their fundamental rights. The practical application of the inextricable link between Health and Human Rights is at the core of its global strategy and at the heart of every FXB program. Today, FXB leads over 100 programs, including 49 FXB-Villages, in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and has a staff of close to 400 and many volunteers
FXB’s programs and services include:
• Reintegration of AIDS orphans within foster families
• School enrolment for primary and secondary school students
• Vocational training in professional and marketable skills
• Development of income-generating activities
• Financial training in savings and micro-credit
• HIV prevention and education, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles
• Medical care and access to antiretroviral therapy; Nutritional support and education; Psychosocial counselling
• Legal support and the protection of children's rights
• FXB Houses for vulnerable children and orphans
• Building homes and the relocation of vulnerable families
• Construction and renovation of schools
• Creating sources of potable water and improved sanitation systems
• Environmental management
FXB Villages: The FXB-Village program is a sustainable and community-based solution to poverty and AIDS. Each FXB-Village brings improvements in health, education, and economic opportunity to children and families in need. Each FXB-Village serves 80 to 100 families (between 500 and 600 people, mostly children) in an impoverished area over three years. Through the delivery of essential services, we ensure that children are thriving and able to reach their full potential. We don’t provide charity. Instead, we equip individuals with the training and resources so they can achieve lasting self-sufficiency and stability. FXB currently operates 49 FXB-Villages in Africa, Asia and South-America.
World AIDS Orphans Day (WAOD) was initiated in 2002 by Albina du Boisrouvray, President & Founder of FXB, to bring attention to the millions of children affected by AIDS. Every May 7, FXB organizes a grassroots campaign to bring attention to the plight of children affected by AIDS and advocate on their behalf. FXB initiated a worldwide coalition of mayors who engage their constituencies to respect and lobby for the rights of the most vulnerable children.
