Sobre nosotros
The Water and Development Committee (WDC), established in 1996, is an NGO that works in the South-Central Regions of Somalia, and is headquartered in Bardera Somalia Liaison Office Kenya. The organization works on issues related to the provision of water, sanitation and hygiene, livelihoods, the empowerment of women and the vulnerable.
Vision
• To become the first choice partner in all matters related to sustainable water hygiene, sanitation and rural and urban livelihood development
• To create a value driven of person who consciously work for sustainable and dignified livelihoods that is committed to positive action in transforming vulnerabilities and build an environment of development, peace and justice upheld
Mission
• To be a leader in providing safe drinking water to humanity while focused on humanitarian activities to the vulnerable, poor and destitute. Our mission is to support sustainable rural and urban livelihood systems to improve the nutrition and food security for the current and future generations in the horn.
• Promoting community driven humanitarian and development approaches in order to transform poverty, vulnerable and marginalization through mobilization of their consciousness for peace, self determination, equity and improved livelihood securities that are geared towards peace and statehood.
Goals
• To ensure achievements in the provision of clean drinking water
• To focus on the plight of the IDP’s
• To ensure the vulnerable benefit from projects initiated by us.

What we do
• Water, Sanitations and Hygiene (WASH): Provision of water supply through water vouchers; Water trucking; Provision of borehole fuel subsides; Rehabilitation of water sources (borehole water systems shallow wells, earth pan and shallow wells and construction and promotion of latrines use; Promotion and distribution and monitoring use of public health promotion support and sanitation, sanitary pads soaps. water storage containers, water purification tablets
• Livelihood sector: Livestock sector support and improvement; Farming sector improvement; Natural resource management; Disaster risk reduction and early by a warning systems; Climate change adaption and environment; Micro finance and IGA empowerment; Education; Child and women empowerment
• Health programs: Health and HIV/aids; Mobile health clinics; Prevention of female genital mutilation FGM; Reducing child birth mortality rate
• Emergency programs: Water trucking; Relief and shelter provision; Floods , disease outbreak and disaster response
• Human right and advocacy: Child and women justice; Minority right; Child protection policy; Civil education and governance
• Peace building and conflict resolution: Empowerment community peace committees; Strengthen local capacity for peace
