WAeUP is a Nigerian-German cooperation initially founded in 2005 by Broadband Technologies (Lagos, Nigeria), Netplux (Accra, Ghana), Scientific African e.V. (Luechow, Germany) and freelance programmers from Germany with a focus on the development of Open Source web solutions.

• student application, admission, clearance and matriculation
• payment of school fees
• course registration
• printing of transcripts
• reservation of school facilities (e.g. accomodation booking, gown hiring)
• sale of lecture notes
• content and document management for research and education
• course management and e-learning
• e-journal publishing
• website content management
Products
• Free Software and the Ubuntu Experience: The WAeUP Group is actively involved in the dissemination of Open Source and Free Software (OSS) in developing countries, particularly in the emerging economies of West Africa. A major goal is to motivate young IT professionals at the universities of these countries, to use OSS and to participate in its development.
• Security
• OSS Basis: We provide a comprehensive package of services that allows a cost-effective management of both student data and teaching materials over the Internet.
• Student Information and Registration: Since its start in 2005 the core business of WAeUP has been the development of a scalable and customizable Internet platform to facilitate the acquisition and management of student data, to control the workflow of student registration processes, and to ensure regular payment of school fees with the help of modern online payment technologies.
• Scholarly Content Management: The WAeUP Group provides, customizes and maintains such a system on demand. It is the Python-based Plone CMS which is "among the top 2% of all open source projects worldwide, with 340 core developers and more than 300 solution providers in 57 countries. The project has been actively developed since 2001, is available in more than 40 languages, and has the best security track record of any major CMS." Plone powers not only many university websites worldwide but also, for instance, the websites of NASA and CIA. WAeUP Germany is actively involved in the development of Plone since 2003.
• E-Learning and Course Management: The WAeUP Group provides, customizes and maintains the PHP-based Moodle LMS which is the most common and popular LMS worldwide
• Portal Hosting with Central Authentication (Single Sign-on): The WAeUP Group offers a seamless integration of the services
• Training: The WAeUP Group provides an established training program in place to help education institutions to get started with their Internet services. The training is adapted to each customer and is conducted on site with hands-on training.
