Sobre nosotros
Who we are:
Ulalo, pronounced as /Oo-lah-loh /, derives its name from the Chichewa language, where it symbolizes a bridge. This linguistic inspiration reflects the essence of our organization, as we strive to serve as a bridge for the children and youth of Malawi, facilitating their journey toward realizing their full educational potential. Based in the city of Mzuzu in northern Malawi, Ulalo operates across the northern and central regions of the country.
What we do
Our work is centered around fostering transformative change within the educational landscape, particularly in rural and underprivileged regions, and targeting underprivileged children and young people including girls, we collaborate with schools, communities, and governments to develop holistic solutions that address various challenges and pave the way for a brighter future for all.
Our initiatives are designed to foster the acquisition of essential skills for further education, promote entrepreneurship, secure employment opportunities, and drive sustainable community development. Through our multifaceted approach, we aim to create a comprehensive support system that empowers individuals to overcome barriers and unlock their full potential.
Our approach is grounded in a network-based model that leverages the collective efforts of schools, teachers, community-based partners, and dedicated volunteers. Through strategic partnerships and collaborative efforts, we aim to contribute significantly to the achievement of our vision, where every child and young individual in Malawi has the opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningfully to their communities and the nation at large.
Mission, Vision, and Values
Our vision is a society where children and young people, living in their full potential, are socially responsible and productive members of society and our mission is to empower children and young people to thrive, reach their full learning potential, and positively contribute to society.
Values
Inclusive: Valuing diversity and ensuring that no one is left behind in decision-making and targeting.
Innovative: Creative organization, continually learning and impacting through new ideas.
Partnership: Thriving together.
Sustainability: Working in ways that benefit the present and future generations.
Integrity: Transparency and accountability are the bedrock of trust and the pillars of positive long-term relationships.
Influencing and inspiring change: Influencing at a local and national level, to change policy, legislation, and services that transform the lives of many more than we can reach directly.
Our 8-year mission as espoused in our strategic plan is to bridge the educational potential for 400,000 children and young people in Malawi by 2030
