Sobre nosotros
Tamera is a peace project in southern Portugal, with a project site that comprises 331 acres, 30 km inland from the Atlantic coast, founded in 1995 and based on 25 years of experience. The project sees itself as a support and training base for the establishment of a global power for peace. The research work deals with new ways of healing both humans and nature. The aim is to develop a cultural model for a non-violent lifestyle: a "Healing Biotope". With the term 'healing biotope', we mean an intentional community of people, animals and plants mutually enhancing each others life-energy - a place where they are no longer restricted by fear or violence. A place for:
- a lively trust between humans and all creatures,
- research into the most fundamental of life's events,
- a non-violent technology,
- a loving reunion of the genders,
- a sensual joy free of fear and humiliation,
- re-locating human life within the laws of creation.
A Healing Biotope is also as self-sufficient as possible in the areas of nutrition, ecology, water, energy and medicine.
Approximately 90 adults and 15 children currently live and work in Tamera for the above mentioned aims. There are no religious or ideological obligations, but there is a common direction that shapes the spiritual character of Tamera. This includes the desire to build things up, the desire to think in new ways, respect for life, participation in creation and solidarity with its beings, and friendship towards animals. On an interpersonal level this entails "loving thy neighbour", the dismantling of leadership cultures through assuming responsibility for oneself, honesty in relationships, truth in love, and transparency in community.
The founders of the project - Sabine Lichtenfels, Dieter Duhm and others - assume that a few such centres worldwide will suffice to build up a global field of healing. We are hoping to see the development of a network of peace villages, active groups and individuals - a new movement for everyone who loves life and wants to protect it, the Movement for a Free Earth.
The next step in the build-up of the Healing Biotope is the 3 years Experiment "Monte Cerro", starting in May 2006. It is an intensive education programme and research time for about 200 participants who dedicate their work to a global peace perspective. "Monte Cerro" is also the beginning of an Alternative University where the basics for peace villages can be studied. The best occasion to get to know the project is the annual International Summer University (but also other events).
We can offer information on the themes above. We are glad to give talks about our work and political approach at larger events (congresses, political meetings, Church Days etc.) We extend an invitation to anybody who is interested in their personal future and that of the Earth and who is seeking a suitable mouthpiece. Overnight stays are possible on our campsite or in the "Pilgrims' Inn". Please contact us in advance and ask when visits are possible.
