Sobre nosotros
Progressive Rural Active Youth’s Action for Society, locally known PRAYAS established in the year 1988 with the motto to provide essential support to people of need. PRAYAS is a non- governmental organization which provides
i) second chance quality education for out – of – school children (specially Brickfield children),
ii) making health for all a reality
iii) decent livelihood opportunities through quality livelihood and skill enhancement program,
iv) alternative nutrition support to the underprivileged.
It has a special focus on social inclusion and therefore gives priority to children, women, adolescent girls and marginalized farmers.
PRAYAS was set up by Mr. L.K.Das in 1988 with the aim to support disadvantaged children, women in order to promote better living. Hence, he initiated several community level programs from education to skill development.

Mission
PRAYAS works around the community to defeat poverty, injustice by empowering people.
Focus:
PRAYAS emphasis on women, children, adolescent girls, small and marginal farmers
Activities in a nutshell according to SDGs
SDG-5: Quality Education
• Education for the children /child labour of brick kiln migrant tribal workers
• Inclusive education program
• Nutrition support program in the SMC(School for Migrant children)
• Barefoot teachers’ training program
• A bridge course program for dropp out children in order to place them into formal education system
SDG- 3: Good Health & Well-Being
• Basic Health Care Support programme, Health awareness program at community level
• Health Chek-up Camp, Blood Donation Camps
• Vitamin –A & Albendazole distrubation camp, Multi Vitamin capsules and albendazole tablet distribution program for pregnant mothers
• Distribution of sanitary napkins and contraceptives to marginalized adolescent girls and women
SDG- 1 : No Poverty
• Skill development training in animal husbentare and aquaculture to farmer and women
• Skill development training in seed processing, paddy cultivation through SRI method and kitchen garden
• Formation of SHGs, Formation of farmers’ club
SDG- 5: Gender Equality
• Awareness program on reproductive health, menstrual hygiene, proper nutrition to adolescent girls and women
• Awareness program on legal rights to women
• Capacity building training on career counseling, life skills and self defense programs for adolescent girls and young female adults
SDG- 15: Life on Land
• We also facilitate activities in these communities so that they can map, assess, predict and take early actions against climate chduced issues
SDG- 16: Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions
It is an event to organize different development stakeholders like CBOs, Youth Clubs, SHGs, Farmers clubs to devote their time for development initiatives of motivational issues like disability, Organ Donation after daie, Malaria Control program, HIV/AIDS, Water & Sanitation, Road Safety, Disaster Preparedness, Consumer Right, Peace & harmony, Thalassemia and environment & ecology. Through fllowing activites: Awareness, Campaign, Advocacy and Networking; Capacity building training; Workshop & Seminar
Relief COVID 19: To ensure, in this situation, that daily wagers, migrant and others vulnerable groups survive this lockdown in the rural Bengal with access to basic consumables.
L.K. Das is the Founder and Secretary of PRAYAS - Progressive Rural Active Youth’s Action for Society.
