Sobre nosotros

"Amsha" is a swahili word meaning "wake up." Amsha Africa Foundation (AAF) is a non-denominational, U.S. non-profit organization and also a recognized NGO in the Republic of Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, founded in 2008, that enhances the living standards in African slums and villages,
• by supplying these communities with food, medical aid, hygiene kits, and mosquito nets;
• by providing capacity building programs, literacy and enrichment, housing, sanitation aid, and agricultural education;
• by rebuilding schools and giving them desks, computers, uniforms, and school supplies.

Amsha Africa Foundation primarily works with registered community based organizations in rural Africa.

What we do:
• Encourage and facilitate the initiation of community based projects that are acceptable, affordable, sustainable, and aimed at improving the welfare of the community.
• Assist people from impoverished families by encouraging, education, health care and training them to undertake some of the urgently needed obligations
• Assist children and orphans living with HIV/ AIDS and rehabilitating street children.
• Helping the girl child in matters on female genital mutilation, sanitation, abuse, and rape.
• Providing basic education and vocational training courses to young people from impoverished communities with an aim of developing their personality and talents.
• Promoting charitable projects for the disadvantaged victims of famine, floods, and other calamities.
• Encouraging contribution and active involvement from members of the community, schools, churches, governments, corporations, etc, to carry out the work of poverty reduction and create awareness on the HIV/AIDS.
• Facilitate the creation of self-employment by starting informal sector development activities such as the "jua kali" initiative in Kenya.
• Promote the production of low-cost building materials, home crafts, and handcrafts.
• Train adults in modern farming techniques, health, environment, family planning, and assist them to acquire managerial skills, and provide information on starting small scale businesses.
• Provide grants for strengthening and expansion of microfinancing programs.

Programs:
• Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene (WASH) Program: We aim to develop scalable business models and technologies capable of moving communities we work with from unsustainable to sustainable sanitation services across the sanitation value chain. We invest in technologies and methods for increasing sustainable access to clean water and hygiene.
• Child Abuse Prevention Program
• "Dear Friend" Pen Pal Program: This project will preserve the art of letter writing for our generation´s children, teaching them to communicate well through the written word.
