Sobre nosotros

The association Nuklearia, founded in 2013, is non-profit and deliberately independent of parties and corporations. It emerged from the Pirate Party's AG Nuklearia. This working group has remained in existence even after the foundation of the association.
Nuclearia sees nuclear energy as an essential pillar of energy supply. Why? Because there is more than enough of it and it is available around the clock. Nuclear energy does not consume such huge areas of land as wind and solar plants, and it is able to provide the base load. Renewable energies are a sensible addition, but for an industrialized country they are neither sufficient nor reliable on their own.
The general public does not know enough about nuclear energy. Instead of knowledge, there are usually only misinformation or myths. Nuclear power is viewed by many as a threat to humanity.
We are working against this misinformation and have founded the Nuklearia association for this purpose. In the association we want to inform people and pass on factual information about nuclear power, radiation and so on.

The purpose of the association is to promote environmental protection with the help of the peaceful use of nuclear technology and related disciplines within the meaning of paragraph 1. In addition to this, the association promotes the progress of science and technology as well as education in the field of nuclear technology and related disciplines.

The association sees its task in particular in the following areas:
• to inform the public and members about scientific and technical developments,
• to deal with scientific, technical and social issues,
• to promote discussion among the various disciplines,
• to offer members a forum for exchanging experiences and ideas,
• to maintain relationships with similar organizations at home and abroad,
• to work together with public and private institutions and organizations committed to the common good.

Ultimately, we want to work towards an amendment to the Atomic Energy Act so that the construction and operation of new nuclear power plants in Germany will be possible again. Modern reactor technologies are particularly interesting. Generation IV reactors and related concepts are inherently safe and can consistently use the highly radioactive, long-lived waste as fuel, thus solving the nuclear waste problem.

Rainer Klute is the first chairman of Nuklearia.
