Murphy Charitable Foundation Uganda is a registered non-governmental, humanitarian organization established in 2018 and it’s operating in Eastern Uganda, whose goal is to support the rights and meet the needs of poor people in their communities. At Murphy Charitable Foundation Uganda, our mission revolves around addressing the needs and upholding the rights of underprivileged individuals residing in rural areas across Uganda. Our multifaceted approach encompasses critical issues that significantly influence the well-being of these communities.
Focus areas:
• Education for Children
• Health Initiatives
• Pen Pal Project
• Empowerment Programs
• Capacity Building
• Research
• Reliable Solar Energy
Activities:
• Pen Pal project: With the “Pen Pal” program you have an opportunity to write encouraging letters to children from underprivileged backgrounds. Your letters can be on any topic such as education, family, health, culture, dangers of illiteracy and superstitious beliefs. It can also be informal and friendly such as wishing them well on their birthdays, exam days and Christmas.
• Child sponsorship: We sponsor vulnerable children’s financial needs such as fundamental necessities, medical care and school tuition fees.
• Women empowerment: We are part of developing community infrastructure, promoting sanitation programs and teaching financial management strategies and hand skill courses such as tailoring, hair dressing, baking and making bracelets.
• Youth Empowerment: We actively engage in mentoring and equipping youth with essential skills such as financial literacy, budgeting, and various vocational abilities. Our focus is on empowering young individuals to take charge of their communities through active participation in community activities. We firmly believe that the youth are the catalysts for positive change within their own communities.
• Library and movie project: We are in the process of constructing a library where children and youths can connect to access quality educational content, motivational movies, and computer resources.
• Cancer Awareness: We raise cancer awareness across Uganda, specifically targeting teenagers and adults. Our goal is to educate teenagers about the dangers of tobacco and ensure that the word "cancer" becomes unfamiliar to them.
• Improving education through reliable solar energy: Empowering rural schools in eastern Uganda with solar energy, we extend study hours, integrate technology, promote environmental education, and empower students. Together with our partners, we create sustainable learning environments, making a meaningful impact on education and ensuring access to solar power and resources.
• Community Health Clinics: We are dedicated to enhancing access to healthcare services and bolstering the overall health infrastructure within local communities. Through collaborative efforts with the community, our goal is to foster the development of superior health facilities and guarantee improved access to high-quality healthcare for all.
• Water and environment: Water and the environment are of utmost importance to us. We are deeply committed to addressing the water crisis in needy communities, and our dedicated team works tirelessly to make a positive impact every single day.
• Outreach program: As part of our outreach program, we proactively visit various schools to spend quality time with children. Additionally, we regularly visit different hospitals to offer support and care to sick children. We are also actively involved in community development programs, working towards making a positive impact in the communities we serve.
