Sobre nosotros

As a registered nonprofit society in Canada, Beyond Hoops Africa (BHA) is dedicated to catalyzing positive change in the lives of young individuals through the transformative power of sports. Our innovative programs, rooted in basketball, soccer, and life-skills training, serve as dynamic platforms for empowerment, education, and inspiration.
BHA stands firm in its conviction that sports should be accessible to every youth, irrespective of gender, financial means, or creed. BHA has embarked on a mission to dismantle barriers for marginalized, racialized, and low-income families by providing essential sports equipment.
Beyond our commitment to sports, BHA is deeply invested in environmental advocacy, climate change action, waste management, and mental health wellness.

Our mission is to empower youth through education, arts, sports and environmental advocacy, fostering a generation of future leaders, actively shaping their own destinies and positively impacting their communities.

• Environmental Advocacy: Championing for youth to take fromt seat on climate action, waste management and reclaiming green spaces.
• Soma Circle: “Soma” means to read in Swahili. Forstering a reading culture and working towards improving child literacy.
• Mental Wellness: Partner with mental health practitioners and organizations to train coaches and community leaders on mental health and also create safe and conducive environments to discuss about mental health in the community and fight stigma.
• Entrepreneurship: Empowering youth with entrepreneurship skills through tailored programs and mentorship initiatives, fostering a generation of aspiring entrepreneurs. By emphazing areas like business planning and leadership development.
• Digital Storytelling: Organizing photography workshops as part of its digital storytelling program to equip youth with the skills to effectively convey their own narratives. Through hands-on training and mentorship, participants learn photography techniques, storytelling fundamentals, and digital editind tools, empowering them to capture and share their unique experiences and perspectives with the world. By merging artistic expression with technology, BHA empowers young individuals to amplify their voices and advocate for social change through the power of visual storytelling.
